Murray McLachlan has been a member of the executive committee of Cancer Voices NSW since 2016, and is one of its two deputy chairs. Prior to that he worked on a voluntary basis for Cancer Council NSW on the NSW Central Coast, focussing on policy and advocacy. His personal cancer experience includes the death of his long-term partner from pancreatic cancer in 2007, and successful surgical intervention for prostate cancer in 2009.
Murray’s interests in his Cancer Voices work builds on his professional life in the NSW public sector, particularly on working with governmental decision makers and influencers, and on policy development and implementation. His Cancer Voices involvement also builds on participation at leadership levels of a number of organisation’s in Sydney’s LGBTIQ communities since the 1980s.
